Frequently Asked Questions
1. Who Is Medical Massage Not Recommended For?
Although medical massage is a highly effective therapy for muscle and joint problems, it is not suitable for everyone. In the following cases, medical massage is not recommended or requires doctor approval:
- People with acute infections, high fever, or open wounds on the skin,
- Those suffering from varicose veins, blood clotting disorders, or vascular inflammation,
- Women in the first trimester of pregnancy,
- Conditions where massage may be risky due to heart or blood pressure problems,
- The early recovery period after recent surgical operations.
In such cases, medical consultation should be obtained first. At Kadıköy Foot Reflex, we evaluate our clients’ medical history before each session to ensure safe and appropriate treatment.
2. How Long Does a Thai Massage Session Last?
The duration of a Thai massage session varies depending on the purpose of the treatment and the individual’s physical condition. It usually lasts between 60 and 90 minutes. For a full-body Thai massage, 90 minutes is ideal to allow proper energy balancing and stretching techniques to take full effect.
Shorter sessions (30–45 minutes) mainly focus on the neck, shoulders, and back. After the session, the body feels lighter, more balanced, and energized. When Thai massage is applied regularly once a week, muscle flexibility and mind-body harmony noticeably improve.
3. How Many Sessions Are Needed for Cellulite Massage?
Cellulite massage improves blood and lymphatic circulation, helping tighten subcutaneous fat tissue. For effective results, at least 6–10 sessions are recommended. The first 3–4 sessions are ideally performed twice a week, followed by once a week thereafter.
Drinking plenty of water, maintaining a balanced diet, and staying physically active help make the results more lasting. At Kadıköy Foot Reflex, we use natural aromatic oils and correct technique combinations to smooth and firm the skin.
4. What Should I Pay Attention to After a Massage?
After a massage, the body relaxes, circulation accelerates, and toxins are released. Therefore, it is important to:
- Drink plenty of water,
- Avoid heavy exercise,
- Refrain from consuming alcohol,
- Rest and get sufficient sleep.
These steps enhance the healing effects of the massage and help the body recover more effectively.
5. How Should I Prepare Before a Massage?
Taking a light shower before the massage is recommended to help the body relax. Instead of having a heavy meal, eating lightly before the session provides a more comfortable experience. Drinking plenty of water also helps muscles loosen and improves blood circulation. Avoid using perfume, creams, or lotions before the massage, as this enhances the effectiveness of the therapy.
6. How Long Do the Effects of a Massage Last?
The effects of a massage are usually felt for 3 to 5 days. With regular sessions, this duration extends and muscles relax more permanently. In medical and Thai massage, the duration of the effect varies depending on body posture and individual condition. For individuals experiencing high stress levels, weekly sessions are recommended.
